NOTD: Purple Palooza!

Today I just wanted to share what’s on my nails currently. I’m not a huge fan of this mani, but I do still like it! Purple is one of my favorite colors to have on my nails! This is 2 coats of OPI “One Heckla of a Color!” beneath 2 coats of China Glaze “Anklets of Amethyst”.

Anklets of Amethyst is a really lovely polish that I tend to ignore due to its sheerness, abysmal drying time, and headache-inducing smell. 2 coats over another polish certainly makes it more manageable, though! The downside of layering are the streaky and uneven results. It may not be too visible in the picture, and it’s not even very noticeable IRL, but it’s enough to bug me.

I also have some exciting new additions to my collection! I recently won an eBay auction for Revlon Mesmerized, and that should be coming in the mail tomorrow. I’m roughly 1/3 of the way done paying for my huge lot of vintage China Glaze. Plus, I’m looking to buy a few ChG and a bunch of old CND from a great beauty supply site, Head2ToeBeauty. My Helmer is at its limit, so I’ve resorted to storing new polishes in a plastic bin until I can get another Helmer.

Anyways, I think that will be all for today! Peace out girl scout!

Jordana's "Purple Glam"

Oh, Purple Glam...

Well, I picked this one up recently (on my birthday, actually, which was the 1st!!) at a dollar store for just $1.99, along with some additional Jordana and Kleancolor.

In theory, this is SUPER pretty. Somewhere between fuchsia and purple, with such depth and richness... it's absolutely stunning. But then the folks at Jordana decided to throw in some small holo glitter, as well as... get this... holo bar glitter. YEAH! I like bar glitter, but it just feels out of place here. I'll add some pictures I took in the sunshine streaming through the window while I was on break at work. Shown in 3 coats.

This is how it looks in direct sunlight. Pretty, isn't it? Even with the glitter, it does look stunning.

That's how it looks in the shade, and this is more true to the color in person.

Seriously, if this didn't have glitter in it, I'd be ALL over this shade, totally in love, 10/10. It reminds me of one of my all-time faves, China Glaze "Draped in Velvet", just with a finer shimmer. But the glitter hapharzardly throw in just makes it less pretty. Not to say that glitter in general isn't great, but there's a time and a place, but this just ain't it. I don't hate it, not at all! In fact I like it! I just don't love it like I could...

Oh, and the TEXTURE. Eughhh. That chunky glitter gives it a bit of a texture, which I simply cannot stand. Two thick coats of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri could not smooth it out. So overall, while I do like this polish, I think I'd be reaching for it much more if it had no glitter. That's all for today. Peace! xoxo
