Revlon Street Wear in "Burnt"

It's here! I initially thought it might not be coming today, but the mail was just a lot later than usual. And boy, and I'm happy that it came today!!

Any reviews I've come across for Burnt (and that's been about 2) seem to acknowledge that the color is just a little bit ugly, but somehow pretty too. I thought it'd be a lot yellower than it is (more of a mustard color), but I'd describe it as a yellow-leaning tan. Like the color of peanut butter!
There are actually 3 versions of this color that I know of, with the other ones being shimmery green and brown colors. One of them is also called "BBurnt", which is a trend I've noticed with Street Wear - if they make another color with the same name as a previous color, they like to put an extra letter in there. This, though, is just plain Burnt.

This isn't specific to this color, but Street Wear as a whole -- I love the way that the logo's shadow is visible because of the bottle design. Other brands' bottles do this too, like Milani, but it's just a little thing that makes me love Street Wear just a tiny bit more.
As I was painting my nails with Burnt, I realized something... I kind of like how 1 coat looks on my nails. The VNL is strong, but it just reminds me of a butterscotch candy or something. This is how that looks.

Though I mildly enjoyed this look, I ended up with 2 coats. This is a really good opacity, and VNL is only noticeable under intense light, such as that of my craft lamp. Even then, you'd really have to be looking for it. The formula is a bit runny and trying not to flood my cuticles was a chore, but hey - this polish is at LEAST a decade old, what can I say? Speaking of that, I have NO idea when the Street Wear line went out of production. From what I've seen, my best guess is around 2003-05. So chances are this polish is more like 15 years old. Anyway...
Here are those two easy coats. I also didn't bother with a top coat because it dries so nice and shiny!!
For whatever reason, it looks super yellow here -- the first 2 pictures really show the accurate color. Caramel, butterscotch, or just plain tan... whatever you wanna call it, this is a lovely color! I think the appeal is more apparent now than in past years. 70s fashion is coming back, and this color is right at home amongst the browns, oranges, and earth tones that the decade was known for. Overall I really like this color and I'll definitely be keeping it with my go-to's!

Anyway, I think that wraps things up for today. I'm very satisfied with the Street Wears I've got and I can see myself buying more in the future, but I've got a new fixation - Vintage OPI. I know... of all the things to be interested in! If you didn't already know, vintage OPI polishes are notoriously hard to track down. Shades such as 1989's Creme de Menthe have achieved a legendary status of VHTF (very hard to find). My focus is the 1998 Painted Desert collection, specifically the color "Peel Me a Gobi Grape". I've found a couple of the collection's colors for sale, but at what price? $129, that's the price! Seriously... one bottle of "Kalahari Khaki" is over 100 dollars. How insane is that?! And not one listing for Gobi Grape! It's so sad. I've seen many collectors talking about finding polishes at the Goodwill, flea markets, and garage sales, so I can only hope that one day I stumble upon a treasure trove of HTF polishes in a crate at the back of someone's garage. Sigh... a girl can dream!

Anyway... until next time!

Revlon Street Wear in "Hologram"

Oh man, here it is! The first of my two Street Wears has arrived. Another one is set to come in the mail tomorrow, so expect to see that next.

This one is called "Hologram" and it's a silver holo bar glitter. It's pretty simple, but I like bar glitters so I figured I'd get it. AND it was only 5 bucks on eBay. What a steal!

Here's Hologram on my bare nails. Yes, I know they're yellow and stained. What'cha gonna do about it? This is one coat.

Next up, I layered it over some random polishes in my collection. This is one coat.
PINK: Pink Royale by Mattese NYC
PURPLE: Just The Way You Arctic by Essie
TEAL: Jungle Fever by LA Colors
BLUE: Reality Star by Nonie Creme

Finally, I layered it over a black polish. This is also just one coat.
I did use a much thicker coat here, though, and as you can tell, you get a LOT of glitter on the brush. You should see my thumb -- it's basically covered.

I'm really going to regret not using a peel-off base coat for this one. I'm not sure why I didn't, but I'm gonna hate myself trying to take this off. GLITTER. EVERYWHERE.
That being said though, I really like this! It's a pretty funky glitter that I haven't really seen anywhere else. I have a pair of earrings that are heart-shaped pink resin hoops with this type of glitter suspended in it and they're super pretty. Maybe I'll put this over pink one day to match them!

Anyway, I'll be back soon with my next Street Wear and more reviews in general!

Revlon in “Daring Graffiti” over LA Colors in “Circuits”

It’s been a little while since I’ve updated this blog. Over the weekend I somehow acquired 22 new polishes. What can I say? I’ve got some hoarder tendencies.
9  of these came from Buddy’s Small Lots, a great discount store that had a LOT of random nail polishes. Prices were insanely low — I got a sealed bottle of Hard Candy’s “Zombie” for 2 bucks. Obviously you won’t be finding OPI’s newest collection at 1 dollar a pop in a bargain bin, but I have no problem with nail polishes from years past (some research shows that these date back to 2014-15). In this haul I discovered some new brands, such as Nonie Creme, whose formula beats the higher end stuff by a long shot. However, there were some familiar faces - Hard Candy as mentioned before, as well as Revlon and Covergirl (their shade “Wine Stain” is currently on my nails). Not too shabby!
3 more polishes come from 2 different dollar stores - a Dollar Tree and a local place called “1 Dollar Deal”. This included 2 glitters from LA Colors and BSN (my least favorite cheap nail polish brand, but it was such a nice glitter), and the one mentioned in the title, “Circuits”.
In the mail came 10 more nail polishes. This was a random assortment of Milani from Amazon. They pick out the polishes for you and send them out. I will probably talk about a couple of those at some point. The selection I got was pretty decent.
I also have 2 more coming in the mail — Revlon Street Wears! I couldn’t be more excited. I found both of them on eBay for reasonable prices (not a common occurrence), so I had to snatch them up. They’re expected by Friday, so after that I’ll probablt review them both!

Right now, though, I’ve got a lovely combo for you.

LA Colors “Circuits” comes to me courtesy of the dollar store, as mentioned above. For some odd reason I did not have ONE black creme polish in my collection. How dumb, I know. I wanted to get Cirque Colors “Memento Mori” since people seem to like it, but let’s be honest - if I’m spending 12 bucks on a polish, it’s gotta be interesting. This is when  LA Colors came in handy. Of course their polishes are pretty hit-or-miss — it IS the dollar store, after all — but I find myself pretty satisfied with the majority of my polishes from them. So I decided, why not? And let me tell you, I’m not disappointed! One thick coat or two thin ones get the job done. You heard me right - 1 COAT of a dollar store polish!

On top of this I put one coat of my Buddy’s find, “Daring Graffiti” by Revlon. This is a super funky clear base featuring red and white bar, hex, and round glitters of varying sizes. I would say this makes a super festive holiday polish, and it certainly gives off that effect over red, green, or white. Over black, though, it just feels like another glitter. Not that there’s anything wrong with that! I really like this polish. The amount of glitter you get in one coat is astonishing, honestly.

I know my photo is not the best, but hey. You get the point.

Since the last time I posted, my nails got super long and they were gorgeous, until one of them just SNAPPED at the tip! Of course I couldn’t have one tiny nail and the rest long, so I filed them all down. My thumb nail actually started to break, but it was so dangerously low that I couldn’t possibly cut it. I tried the “tea bag and glue” nail repair hack, and honestly it’s working well so far! The only problem is that you can sort of see the tea bag beneath my polish, but if I did a completely opaque color I think I’d be okay.

Anyway, I’m signing off for now. It’s a little sad because I know no one is reading this, and I’m basically just writing to myself, but I’m having fun. Night!
