• Ended my relationship
• Started a new one (with a truly fabulous guy)
• Crashed my car
• Financed a new one
• Interviewed for, accepted, and then withdrew from a job
• Served jury duty
• Traveled out of state to visit family
…and more! Add on the mundane trappings of daily life – appointments, bills, all that fun stuff – and I just haven’t had the energy for this little old blog.
I can also point to my waning dedication to vintage polish as a contributing factor. The rapid growth of the community and the resulting price increases have left me a bit cold. I continue to treasure my existing collection, but new editions have been scarce since the massive influx of Sinful last year. There will always be those “unicorn” polishes for which I’ll hold out hope, but I’m mostly content with my horde. I have SO many polishes that I lusted after for years, that I never dreamed I’d own. Now feels like a good time to stop or, at the very least, slow down significantly.
Today I thought I’d share one of those rare, sought-after polishes in my collection: Rimmel Zeitgeist. The photo I’ve taken of it is horrendous. Casually snapped in my car, it prominently features tip wear (it’s been on my nails for over a week) and crusty cuticles (it’s been a rough winter). Still, I really like how it captured the stunning color shift that makes Zeitgeist so popular.
How pretty is that? Pink to green has been done to death by now, but when Zeitgeist first made its debut, “duochrome” wasn’t a word in any nail polish enthusiast’s vocabulary. Polishes of this nature were advertised with quaint terms such as “hologram” or “color flip”. Call me crazy, but some of this old stuff is just as good as the indies of today. Zeitgeist’s shift is dramatic and visible under all lighting conditions. It’s a classic for a reason! Also a hit with my boyfriend, who claimed that it’s his favorite nail color he’s seen on me to date.
Bye for now! Until next time… whenever that may be.
