Pure Ice in "Hit the Floor"

Hello everybody! With Christmas trees being decorated, lights being strung in windows, and the Hallmark channel churning out movies, the holiday season is fast upon us. What better way to celebrate the "most wonderful time of the year" with a little festive polish?

This Pure Ice gem comes to me from Walmart. At a price of $1.99, this was a little more affordable than the other polishes I'd been eying on my trip to the beauty aisle (those being OPI's "Tiramisu for Two" and Revlon's "Totally Toffee"... I just realized, they both have food related names... how funny! Anyways...)

I don't usually pay attention to Pure Ice. I haven't seen this brand anywhere but Walmart, and I don't really go there too often. I only have one other bottle aside from this. But now, I'm considering looking more into it!

"Hit the Floor" is a pretty, bright red jelly with small red glitter. For whatever reason, this just screams "Christmas" to me! Though that's not the only occasion you could wear this for - this makes for a great everyday look! I think you could even get away with this in the workplace, since it's such a classic color with a fun twist.

Here's 3 coats of "Hit the Floor".
I'm not sure why, but my camera couldn't faithfully reproduce the color of this one. When I say it's red, I mean RED. It isn't neon or anything, but it's definitely bright enough to be striking. I wish I had a well-known shade to compare it to, but colors like "I'm Not Really a Waitress" and "Big Apple Red" are too light. Picture a darker version of the latter.

Anyway, 3 coats isn't really necessary. You could TOTALLY get away with it in just 2, but I made some mistakes so I covered it up with an additional coat. Also, this dries really weirdly. Almost like a textured polish. So if that isn't your desired look, I would definitely use a glossy top coat. (I have my go-to Seche Vite on top).

Just a quick little anecdote before I go -- so underneath my previous polish, "Shazam" by Revlon, I used a peel-off base coat called "Ready for Takeoff" by UNT. If you follow SimplyNailogical then you'll probably know of this. So I was in the shower today when my nails just started peeling on their own! I didn't have to do anything to them - they just popped right off! This is a good and bad thing. When you use a peel-off base coat, you want your nail polish to peel off easily. It certainly performs that duty... but it could happen at the wrong time! Maybe the hot water caused a reaction and made them peel off? Who knows.

So, I think this is a good place to wrap things up. I wish I could say what I've got in store for the future, but I really don't. Just more manicures I guess. Good night!
