Hello everyone. Today is not a good day as far as nail-related things go. To start off, I broke BOTH of my thumbnails. Yes, seriously! The first one had been weak for a little while, but it snapped right off at some point while I was out - I didn't even notice until I looked down and it was just broken. The other one had previously developed a nasty split in the side, that today split even deeper and went halfway through the nail. Despite my attempts at saving it, the poor thing just broke right off as I was attempting to untie a knot from a plastic bag.
In addition, my first go at dusty hunting was less than ideal. I didn't find anything of interest, and the lady was hovering over my shoulder the whole time asking "what color?" I think she thought I wanted to get my nails done. I don't know. I'm a little bit discouraged, but I wanna keep at it and find my coveted Peel Me a Gobi Grape.
I decided not to go through with the Christmas mani since I broke my nails, but instead I just fished a random polish from my collection and went with it. Today we've got Revlon's "Shazam". I wish I could pinpoint when this was made, but it's kinda gloopy, so I have to assume it's kinda old. That and the worn away paint on the bottle.
This is a really funky glitter featuring tiny pink and magenta glitters in a clear base. One coat of this might make for a nice topper, though it is pretty substantial on its own. I achieved full opacity with 3 coats, and a thick coat of Seche Vite seems to have smoothed it out a lot (I worried it'd have an unpleasant texture to it).
Unfortunately I couldn't get the color quite right. It looks a lot "warmer" in real life, and so much sparklier too! Seriously, this would be perfect for going out or a party. Can't you just picture wearing this on New Years? The pinks are also muted enough that you could get away with it for everyday stuff. I wouldn't suggest it for work if they're strict about what you can wear. But otherwise this is a really cute, fun polish! My only suggestion is - USE A PEEL OFF BASE COAT. I can already tell this would be a fricking nightmare to try and take off. Even with the foil method, this would suck! And I don't like the foil method much anyway. I only really use it as a last resort, like if I was being dumb and forgot to use a peel-off base coat.
Anyway... I think I'll end things here. I know this is pretty short compared to my recent posts, but it's pretty late and I'm feeling a bit sleepy. Also, my nails are still wet (I often make these posts during/right after I paint my nails) and I GOTTA PEE!!! I guess they're not really wet, since I did use Seche Vite, but I still don't want to risk smudging them like I so often do. Ugggggghhhhh. The struggle. Good night all!
